Thousands Lost Electricity in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Powerful Storms
Nearly 25,000 residences in southeastern Queensland were left without power on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms impacted the area, generating powerful gusts hitting 109 kilometers per hour.
Massive Hailstones and Extensive Destruction
Residents reported large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7cm in certain regions. Meteorological experts confirmed that various areas across Queensland had been affected by substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams deployed to handle the widespread outages.
Victoria's Storm Challenges
At the same time, approximately 1,000 households in the southern state also encountered electricity disruptions after the capital city saw its most precipitation in a year and a half.
Rescue organizations responded to 598 emergency reports across the region, primarily for building damage but also for fallen timber and flooding.

- Wyndham - 179 emergency requests
At one point on the previous day, over twenty-eight thousand energy customers in Victoria were lacking electricity.
Weather Forecast
Humid circumstances were expected to linger along much of Queensland's east this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the shoreline.
The following day was predicted as the most rainy day, with persistent severe weather risk predicted across different parts of both states.
Health Warning
Health officials warned that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This caution comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to significant health impacts in the region.
