It's tough for Australia to set fresh records.

The top summits have already been conquered.

We're talking about the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and once went over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are the only things left for a side that has won it all.

It needed up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batsmen to hold a record if not provided the chance.

In the end, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting a platform to produce her newest gem.

Many contend the argument supporting final game tension. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this innings was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it has been a disappointing period because it appeared I lacked timing at all," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive nature kick in and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

"A chance to go out there and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was dismissed the team needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I am glad we have the assurance to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, should it happen, we believe we can achieve it."

That comment will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this championship should hear.

During the last week a belief they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this victory coming after win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

However although she later admitted those injuries have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this championship is expected to be her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as leader.
